 Welcome to

First Night Northampton

Happy New Year! You’re invited to attend First Night—Northampton’s most beloved signature event. On Tuesday, December 31st, the Northampton Arts Council and Greenfield Savings Bank welcome you to the 40th edition of our city-wide New Year’s Eve party. Since 1985, First Night Northampton has filled Paradise City with a 12-hour, family-friendly festival of the arts, culminating in a traditional ball-raising from the roof of the Hotel Northampton. Gather with friends, neighbors, and visitors at over 20 terrific downtown venues for an astounding array of entertainment presented by hundreds of talented performers. Generous local sponsors and dedicated volunteers support our efforts. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit community arts.

We'll witness a fireworks display at 6:15 pm and gather outside the Hotel Northampton for a “ball-raising” at midnight. A bargain-priced button is still the ticket to over 100 arts and entertainment performances throughout the day and night. We ask you to join our Platinum Co-sponsor, Greenfield Savings Bank, by sponsoring this alcohol-free, family-friendly event.

“Like” our Facebook page or follow us on Instagram to keep up with the excitement.

About the Poster Art

Liz is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Montague, MA. She holds a certificate in Graphic Design from Massachusetts College of Art, and a B.A. from Smith College, where she studied Environmental Science and Studio Art.

For five years, Liz worked on creative teams both large and small, learning the tricks of the trade. In 2020, she left her job at a larger design firm to start Liz Moran Design. With that change, she enjoys a closer connection to client outcomes and the creative process. Liz is especially interested in collaborating with organizations that have a social or environmental mission.
